Mix It Up Day!
On Tuesday, October 18th, the students at DeSales "Mixed it Up" at lunch. Teaching Tolerance's Mix It Up program helps develop inclusive school communities nationwide.

Mix It Up Day is a fun opportunity to make new friends in school. It's when you sit with a new crowd of people at lunch. It is a great way to end cliques in schools or make new friends. The 6th grade transition classes showed off their leadership skills and took charge. They made posters to put up in the building to promote this day, went into the classrooms to talk to other students about Mix It Up Day and helped with the day of activities. They decided to have a picture of an animal at each table and when students walk in, they hand out animal names randomly and that is the table you sit at that day. They wanted to make it interesting and fun for the younger grades as well (that is why they chose animals).
