The counseling program at DeSales Catholic School is designed to be preventative and developmental.  In addition to seeing students individually and in classroom guidance, we teach skills and information in small-group settings. We emphasize to students that groups are for everyone, and participating does not indicate a problem. Groups are structured and goal focused. Students learn important life skills that enhance their ability to succeed academically and socially as well as cope with stressful situations.

Listed below are some of the groups that we will offer:

  • Friendship Group: communication, conflict management and strategies to be a even better friend
  • Grief/Loss Group: Loss of a parent, sibling, friend, pet or anyone close to them
  • Banana Splits Group: dealing with separation/divorce

Depending on interest, groups would try to meet around their lunch/flex time starting the end of February. If you think your child would benefit from one of these groups, please return this letter to me or contact me at 716-433-6422 ext. 460 or cohenj@desalescatholicschool.org
